What is it

ClaimBuddy is a mobile-first web app that turns receipt photos into formatted, ready-to-submit claim PDFs. You snap or upload bills on your phone, OCR reads the amounts off them, the images are enhanced and compressed, and the finished PDFs — merged or split by category — are emailed to you along with a spending summary.

It's built for doing expense claims fast on a phone: PIN-protected, with a dark mode that sticks, a doc-scanner enhancement pass (auto-contrast, sharpen, normalize via sharp), OCR via Tesseract with a clear manual fallback, and a configurable PDF size cap so attachments stay within limits. Originals are deleted right after the email goes out.

User guide — quickstart

    Open the app on your phone

    Go to claimbuddy.bansalapp.digital on your phone's browser — it's designed to be used mobile-first, so the camera and gallery integrations work best from a phone.

    Enter the PIN

    The app is PIN-protected. Enter the 4-digit PIN to get in.

    Set the trip details

    Pick your city and the date range for the claim — these appear on the final PDF and in the spending summary.

    Upload your bill photos

    Tap the upload area to snap a photo or pick from your gallery. OCR (Tesseract) automatically reads the amount off each receipt and fills it in — you can correct it manually if detection isn't confident.

    Set categories for each bill

    Tag each bill with a category (food, travel, accommodation, etc.). This drives how the PDFs are grouped and what the spending summary looks like.

    Choose merge or separate, then send

    Pick whether all bills should be merged into one PDF or kept separate per category. Hit Send — the formatted PDFs plus an itemised spending summary arrive by email. Original images are deleted right after.
